Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken at Kemasik Beach as I was travelling along the east coast between Kota Bahru and Kuala Trengganu. This beach is located about 10km north of Kijal town in the state of Terrenganu and I must say an exciting place for taking pictures. As I was browsing through the shots that I have taken I noticed this little boy tucked in the distance in this composition. It does change the mood and atmosphere. So here is a short poem to share with you this special moment.

The Anxious Wait

Looking out towards the vast open sea
This child is trying to understand
The world in front and below his knee
For he only knows the sea and the sand

Each day, anxiously he would scout
For his father’s boat from the horizon to appear
And then he would jump and jump and shout
As happiness drown his fears

He knows too well what tragedy would bring
As his future depends on the sea
To break away from his life of sufferings
His father must catch to cover his fees

While others have moored and rested
The familiar boat is nowhere to be seen
Already for hours he has waited
But he’ll be here till the tide covered his shin.

Starting August I will be trekking through London, Eastern Canada and Copenhagen hoping to get a different kind of experience.
Regards.
