Photographer’s Note
I was wandering back country roads this morning amidst storm clouds gradually giving way to a summer sun, and I happened upon this quintessentially Midwestern scene.
Although our part of Wisconsin is best known for paper mills, it was once a bustling grain center, more famous than Minneapolis for flour mills at one time. Even today, it's still an important part of the Grain Belt.
I liked the wide swaths and contrasting bands of color that I saw, and the big blue silo in the distance, just beginning to be illuminated by the breaking light. I metered the clouds and bracketed the exposure until I got the desired settings.

Hi Jim,
A nice bit of Americana seen here with the rich golden field of grain leading to the old silo and threatening grary sky.
Looks like the crops are about to get a good soaking.
Regards, Tom

Hi Jim
j'aime beaucoup ce contraste entre la couleur doré du champs et de ce ciel menaçant, le silo bleu ressort à merveille avec son toit blanc.
Amitiés

Good evening Jim,
I adore contrasts of the stormy ciels with very enlightened nature or monuments. The composition is skilful and artistic, making use of the position of the silo and this plant in forground. The gilded color of the cereal field is pleasant. very good realization. Cheer.
Have a nice evening.
Cordially.
Joël
