Lamp of Barcelona Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is my small contribution to Felip's theme "Lamps of Barcelona". I am not sure of it, but maybe my previous post shows also a lamp of Barcelona.

I shot this one in Passeig de Grácia, one of the main streets of Barcelona where are located many of the buildings that contribute to make the Architecture of Barcelona so famous. Two of the most famous buildings designed by the Modernist master Antoni Gaudí are found in this street - Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, also known as La Pedreda. The latter is just a block away from the POV.

The image is a stitch of two vertical shots; despite the wide angle used, I couldn't find a good framing in which I could include the whole lamp with just one shot.

Interesting that very few cars are riding along this main road. The two vertical shots look good stitched together. Is hard to seen any flaws in the processing of this image plus the exposure was almost perfect. In any case the lamps are a far departure of the more moderns lamp posts found in NA. Thanks Jose :-)

Um quase contra-luz muito bem sucedido! Parabéns! A escolha deste primeiro plano foi genial. Que lugar interessante! Um sofá com abajur em plena rua... dá até vontade de tomar a fresca e levar uma prosa aí, de noitinha.

You ask to give bad critique in your intro, but this is very nice, I can here no bad critique give.
Splendid sight with a wonderful point view about the lamppost.

This is no doubt one of the more artistic street lamps I have seen!
And it comes with a built-in bench, creative...

I was surprised to read this is a stitch, but then in a busy street you would need to get fairly close to avoid lots of distractions, not to mention people walking in front of you. It has come out very well, and, as it's not too narrow, I guess you had a big overlap. I actually like the overhanging tree, although some may argue it is covering the lamp. The mosaic 'chair' underneath looks like Gaudi influence. You must have waited for red traffic lights to get the empty street! :D

São realmente belíssimos esses postes do Passeig de Grácia em Barcelona, combinando com toda a arquitetura ao redor, deixando o lugar com uma face totalmente inusitada, diferente de tudo o que já se pode ter visto em outras cidades!
A foto registrou uma delas muito bem, com excelente nitidez e composição acertada!

A simple but eye catching shot, you present the spirals which have always fascinated me. Against a blue sky, there is no distraction — just the lines of the lamp post, and indeed shot the day after our most memorable meeting in Barcelona.

Hi Jose,

I’m not surprised that this lamppost is in Barcelona. All that curved line in architecture and ornaments that Gaudi introduced are so strongly associated with Barcelona that this was an easy guess. And if you doubt than look at the mosaic of the pedestal of the lamp. Typical Gaudi.

comprendo perfectamente que hayas hecho un stitch de dos fotos, porque una toma muy parecida a ésta ya me dió muchos problemas de encuadre para conseguir captarla completa.
Estas farolas de Pere Falqués, discípulo de Gaudí, en el Passeig de Gràcia, son unos elementos urbanos muy interesantes y con un buen nivel estético.
Tu foto capta esa elegancia y esa belleza en una buena combinación con las hojas del árbol, el contraluz y las sombras.
