Photographer’s Note
Kolmanskop (mining village built 1908, deserted 1956) turned out to be one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises in Namibia. Having seen only few pictures from the place, I thought there was much less to it. But Kolmanskop is full of amazing houses and rooms, and has much atmosphere.
Here a bathtub outside one of the residential houses.

Hi Nana,
this pic is a symbol for the decline of a culture, for the decay and the limits of human effort.
The contrast between the desert and the bath tube is amazing. You also mastered the hard light very well. The pic is very underestimated till now.

Kudos for making art out of nothing, or at least an old bathtub, this is what it's all about. Nice BW treatment. Regards, TW

This is great Nana, although I think I'd have preferred it without your(?) footprints there in the sand. They disturb the air of abandonment and decay, although one could argue that they provide a contrast, a suggestion of life amongst the desolation in the rest of the photo.
Your B&W conversion is excellent, and I like the atmosphere you convey here.
Cheers,
Ben

What a disturbing frame! I love it. This one is surreal! Top work with your black and white. Great job, cheers!
