Photographer’s Note
Camels are an important part of life in Rajasthan. They are often decorated and branded. Traveling by camel is one of the unique ways to explore small villages in Rajasthan. Riding at the top of this ship of the desert can be an adventure. Riding a camel is not easy as people consider and can be a great test for endurance. It is a great experience to explore The Thar - a vibrantly, living, desert, very colourful and hospitable. Nightly halts are usually given near villages to provide opportunities to mingle with the local village folks and to provide insight to the traditional way of their life and culture.

Hey Ben! I meant to comment on your other photo - I love the simplicity, the rich colors, and that camel sticking his head into your shot. This one is not quite as aesthetically pleasing, but so interesting. I never knew camels got branded in Rajasthan. Or that they have big callouses? on their back legs. Cool shot - I learned something from it.
