Photographer’s Note

Khuri Village is approximately 40kms from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village is surrounded by sand-dunes, and has a few basic home-stays.

Begin the walk from Khuri village. Walk along the small mud-houses, seeing life in the village. Along the untarred road, you can see men squatting in front of the house chattering, children playing, a few camel being tended by their owners and cows lazing, while the women work in the house. Talk to the villagers - they are friendly and open - and get to know more about their lives.

Hi Benjamin!
Noticed your upload this morning. Having just returned from Rajasthan in March, this one really stood out for me. This appears to be morning perhaps? Beautiful light on the two men, with the "Rajasthan" look of mustaches and wonderful turbans. The camels really work to complete the whole desert feel. Nice work! Cheers,

Hi Ben,
A delightful scene you captuered here. I love the way the orange turbans stand out. surrounded as they are by he muted tones of the desert. And the lopsided "grin" of the camel contrast strikingly with the formal moustaches of the village men.

Thanks for the kind words my friend! Great shot here - great colors on the two guys. Their similar appearances make me do a double take - mirror? No, it's just two orange-turbaned dudes. And of course the camel's expression is great. You can really draw out those emotions - in man and beast!
