Photographer’s Note
I spent a great day walking around the streets of Fener and Balat and came upon a house that was gutted. Largely captured here is the second floor rear interior wall. Exposure to the elements is helping to reveal layers of paint. In the bottom left hand corner is the top of a pile of debris. The entirety made me think of the works of Robert Rauschenberg.

Hi Michael,
A capture worth of thousand words.
Not only wonderfull graphism but also a very important architectural technique of good old times, which does not exist any more.
İt was been called ; Bagdadi. Translated, the sytle from Baghdad. The walls was been covered first with thin wooden lathes. Which than had gotten a coverage of a mixture of gypsum, sisal fibers, water and eggwhite.
After being dried, the final coating was than a paint on chalk basis.
Here one can see, that the walls was been painted -once upon a time- blue, yellow and green !
The zickzacks shows us that there was a staircase climbing upwards !
TFS and best regards

Hello Michael,
Decay is often sad, usually inevitable, and sometimes beautiful. You have found some strange beauty here and composed it well.

Great shot Michael, you really captured the decrepit state of the building. But there are still bright colours in the green, blue and the yellow. Great textures on the wall, and door.

David

Hello Michael,
The explanation of Mesut is very interesting.
You did a really great work here and the result is very attractive, the texture and the different colors of the wall created an incredible pictorial effect.
Also composition is perfect, very well done.
