Photographer’s Note
The salt evaporation ponds of Punta Fuencaliente are situated at the extreme Southern tip of La Palma. La Palma is called the "green island" of the Canary Islands group, but is not so green on this view.
Indeed, the landscape has been thoroughly transformed by the eruption of Volcan Teneguia of 1971, covering large parts of land with fresh lava.
The black lava and the white ponds provide a remarkable contrast.

Ciao dear Paul,
pleasant graphic effect, due to your excellent sense of the observation. This photo is also interesting because it seems half in B&W and half in color.
Compliments!

Bonjour, cher Paul,
Les marais salants forment une bien jolie composition graphique. J'aime beaucoup l'effet donné à cette composition avec cette très belle perspective allant jusqu'à la mer.
Une image bien composée et très intéressante.

Hi Paul,
it is very interesting.
Do they really purify salts out of the sea water?
Very funny composition, TFS

Hello Paul,
Amazing graphical effect with divided small ponds and fantastic textures created by black lava and salty waters. The contrasts between them front of blue sea are just cherry on cake. Congratulations.
Friendly Regards,

Hi Paul, Tremendous contrast between the black lava and white salt. Seems an ideal place to make lo-cost sea salt. It is almost timeless as ancestors could have devised a similar method. TFS. Murray.

Hi Paul,
The perspective reached here is fantastic, and the strong contrast between the dark lava and the so white salt creates a strongly ambiance! I like really much the composition too, with this narrow band of the blue sea! Thanks.
Greetings,
Angel.

Hi Paul,
Great effect is being created by these salt pans, as we call them in Malta. We use the same method but in limestone!! Here the effect is increased with the black coloured lava and it does look almost graphical.
Well done
