Photographer’s Note
The shot is from mount Olympos and a beautiful area very close to the village of Litohoro. The river is Enippeas, well known to those who are familiar with the Greek mythology. Starting it's long journey from very high at the holy mountain, from the ancient times this river was combined with great myths and legents. According to these, the valley of Enippeas was the place that Zeus had chosen for the Muses and Nymphs to have their bath away from the mortal's eyes. No human was allowed to watch them, and if somebody did, the punishment was never to see again, Zeus was blinding him...
Those myths had a great effect at the area and are still alive among the locals. When i first took this path by the riverside i noticed that many areas have names like "The Rock of the Muses", the "lake of the Nymphs" and so on.
Of course every myth has a sourse and a reason, and the reason that this river was so sacred is obvious to every visitor. The water is so crystal clear, transparent, almost strange. Also very-very cold, even at August. But the most impressive thing is the way the water suddenly disappears to underground passages and shows up again after a few meters creating lovely falls.
This shot was taken last autumn, when the forest was just beautiful with all those colours, and the sounds from the river, that was coming down full of water, where very strong.
I hope you will like it!
*** I find very interesting the comparison between this shot and the one i posted before that, "Winter's silent beauty". Both shots were taken almost at the same area, but at different seasons. It is imazing to see how different this place looks!! Check it out!

Your mythical note goes well with thsi riverine autumn scene Elena. There's a reclusive view of this torrent, taken among the branches and the dead leaves, hinting the moss covered rocks. Dark, sombre view of an autumn.

I hope Zeus will not blind me after having seen your beautiful picture, Elena! The Autumn colors add atmosphere to a mytichal place and the frame of river between trees, branches and leaves is perfect. A pity you wasn't able to catch a muse or a nymph!

This kind of composition ir really difficult because you have the river which is very exposed to the light, and the foreground, the forest which is quite dark.
The result is good even though the river is a little bit overexposed.

Very good point of view you chose Elena. The deep green of the moss with the reddish leaves are great foreground elements. Nicely balanced by the yellow leaves at the top of the photo. Give a nice feeling like sitting in a cave and looking on a nice scene. Well done.

I like the composition, almost a spiral of colours: starting from the left, black, red, green yellow up to the white/blue centre. The DOF is great, so as the choice of using the flash. Great sharpness and well saturated colours. Good job.

The whole place near the Enipeas Valley is magnificent and you certainly managed to capture it well!

Very nice river shot! I like colorful natural framing: rocks on the right, autumn leaves, tree trunk and tree branches on top. Well seen and captured!

Hello Elena,
Magical view. The floating white water is perfectly framed by the mossy tree and the rocks. Nice to have the fragile branches on the left and the golden curtain on the right. Great job and very well seen. TFS. Thomas

I have no photograph skills myself, but this is an amazing color-combination and the river looks so alive!
