Photographer’s Note
Gulu is in war-torn Northern Uganda. Each day 40,000 kids leave their home for fear of being kidnapped by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). They come to Gulu where they can sleep safely and then return to their homes each morning.

Very good. A pleasure to look at. All seems ghostly, the walls and doors, the kids. amd maybe this is how the city feels because of war? Strong atmosphere. Might have even been better with the kids a little more on the right part

Strong impressionist feel and truly inspiring photo Adam.. The photo is quite a-propos with the motion blur of the running kids and the deserted mildew striken construction. The war in northern Uganda is another shameful example of international inaction and the selective blind-eye of powerful nations towards African tragedies.
This is definitely not the way to go.
An important quote from Nigerian born poet Ben Okri...
"Have we forgotten what Africa is? Africa is our dreamland, is our spiritual homeland. There is a realm inside every human being that is Africa. We all have an Africa within us. And so, when the Africa outside is sick with troubles, the Africa inside us makes us ill with neuroses. The sheer quantity of neuroses, of anorexia, of inexplicable psychic illness in the world, is possibly indirectly due to the illness, the troubles in Africa. We have to heal the Africa in us if we are going to be whole again. We have to heal the Africa outside us if the human race is going to be at peace again in a new dynamic way. "
