Photographer’s Note

The rift between the old and the new within the Dubai environment continues to expand on a daily basis. With massive development something has got to suffer,,,,unfortunately that means that to some extend the ways of old do get lost. Authorities within the United Arab Enirates continue with their struggle to ensure that the traditional ways of the Emirates are not lost amongst the multi-cultural development within their country.
Whilst down at one of the newly developed hotel beach areas I was happy to find a local Emirate making his own business by "selling" rides to the tourists or expats who frequent this beach. Sure this is not the same as the open desert countryside, but at least the sight of these amazing animals is not foregotten.
I loved the bright colours which adorned these camels, as well as the traditional dress of the man.
This image clearly shows the contrast between the massive, expensive develpment of the Palm Jumairah in the background, and the camel handler on the beach in the foreground. Added to the contrast was the odd expensive speedback bobbing in the cool waters of the Arabian gulf.
