Photographer’s Note
I have been posting a number of images from Venice taken during the early hours of the morning and some night shots. Here I decided to post a sunlit view of the San Marco gondolas having used my wide angle lens. Although the lighting and colours are not as soft and attractive as those previous images, I do like this one with the slightly more abstarct view of the gondolas. Although the sky is over exposed, I like the contrast between dark bold colours of the foreground against the "washed out" look behind. I also waited for the small swell to create some white as it lapped against the ancient Venetian steps.

Hi Grant,
Interesting effect with this wide angle, original result, a good idea.

Hello Grant,
A good composition and very natural colours. I really like boats (gondolas) too so it is a pleasure looking at this picture.

Hi Grant, Venice a city that is close to my heart, exactly for those reasons you have stated this image is worthwhile posting for others to enjoy. Nice one. must have been close to getting your feet wet.
Thanks

Hi Grant, creative composition of this often photographed theme. The WA has added to the composition and I like the hazy outline of the buildings in the BG. The choice of moment works for me too, with the small wave breaking. cheers, Steve

Hi Grant.
I really like the lens distortion in this extremely wide angle, small aperture picture. It's a bit different from the usual type of shot taken from this angle. I think the hazy background and the diagonal of the steps in the foreground make a good setting for the boats in this well cropped photo. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew
