Photographer’s Note
This shot is interesting for me for two reasons. First, and obvious one is a quite unique place in a far end of the world. This remote beach is located in a very south corner of New Zealand mainland. The pretty rough basin of water you can see there is Southern Ocean and it spreads from there all way down to Antarctic. To be honest it was pretty amazing and strong feeling to stay there and see the waves which came a long way from the South Pole. And second, it shows perfectly strange obsession of Kiwis to different kinds of signs. This one we found in a middle of nowhere, even better, far, far from a middle of nowhere. It was built on a side of remote road, on a shore of a Hell-Know-Where Ocean. I personally think this is just amazing. Just think about it for a minute. The sign which shows directions to some unknown places, on a side of a lost highway is a very age of the land. Pretty romantic, actually. This is way of life, this is New Zealand...

Hi Dmitri,
I think I would have the same sensation there at the end of the world, sitting upside-down:)
What the heck those signs could mean in that God forgotten place?...
Interesting photo and note,as well.
Congrats!...and thanks.

Hello Dmitri.
A very nice shot of this most unusual signpost. Great light you had here and you captured it well. Excellent exposure of the white foam. That sea makes me shiver just looking at it and thinking about where it's come from. I love your title, and thanks for the great note.
I must say that I found the southern part of NZ to be rather isolated and remote and somewhat forbidding in a social as well as climatic sense. But I'd like to go again before too long.
Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Dmitri,
I like your composition of this photograph very much, and your use of the polarizer to capture the colour is also good.

I have always loved these signs, and I like your photo a lot, Dmitri! What an unusual atmosphere, yes, like the edge of the world, but see...we always imagine something dramatic and dark...whereas it's actually quite sunny! :) Seems that the wind was very strong? Love the diagonal and adorable colours. A great one!

Hello,
Awesom POV and composition with such beautiful colors and sharpness. I like those "adenturous" signs all pointing islands, and I like your very nice and touching note...
Merry christmas !

Hi dmitri, Funny note and interesting photo. Indeed, it seems the end of the world, a bit surrealistic. But still, there are islands more south, as these signposts indicate. I saw similar on the Easter island, many thousands of kilometers to something, only waves.
Warm regards, happy New Year

Hi Dmitri!
A great shot with the long diagonal coastline and the foaming ocean.Great contrast with the nice green tones of the landscape and a good composition with these yellow signs.

Hello,
This photo is good for first its subject showing the sign pointing very far lands and giving a high feeling of wilderness and second for its composition using the diagonal of the shore and the opposition of colors between the sign and the sky.
Yves.
