Turkey Welcomes You by Jyothi Karthik Raja

We decided to extend my school trip into a delightful vacation in Turkey. Turkey, especially Istanbul, is where east meets west. Grand Roman and Ottoman monuments stand majestically amidst modern structures. Every street corner boasts of some historic monument. The city is dotted with over 2000 mosques and chances are that you would spot a minaret wherever you look. It is also the only city that lies in two continents and has a sea runnning through the city. The entire historic area of Istanbul is a World Heritage Site. ... (full story) (3 photos)

Our week long wedding bonanza seems to have set the tone for all future celebrations so our first anniversary was celebrated in Switzerland. Snow capped mountains, picturesque scenery, green meadows, chiming cowbells, shimmering lakes and pretty towns make Switzerland 'Paradise on Earth'. We started our dream trip aboard a Zurich bound Air Canada flight from Delhi and reached Zurich on the 4th of June 2006. ... (full story) (5 photos)

A week for a wedding. 10 days for us to recover from it. On the fourth day after our marriage, Tuesday, June 14th at 4 am, we left Delhi by Turkish Airways. We reached Istanbul around 7:40 am local time and spent a gruelling 9 hrs at the airport. Apparently as Indian nationals we needed an embassy visa to enter Turkey so we missed our opportunity to enter the famed city of Istanbul. From Istanbul to Athens it took us an hour. We reached Athens around 8 pm Athens time and took the subway train to Omonia Sqaure where our hotel, Dorian Inn, was located. ... (full story) (4 photos)

A breath of fresh air. A place where time stands still. This was our temptation before we decided to set out on our trip to the Kangra valley. Pragpur is India's first Heritage village and is nestled in the Kangra valley surrounded by the imposing Dhauladhar range. It's also the perfect base to explore Kangra, Jwalaji, Chamunda, Ranital, Chintpurni, Palampur, Dharamsala and McLeodganj. ... (full story) (2 photos)

One of India's hottest tourist destinations, Jaipur is accessible by road, rail and air. We chose to drive down the 212 Km from Delhi and the roads were beautiful. We started on September 3rd morning and driving at a comfortable speed we reached Jaipur in about 4 hrs with a brunch stop at Midway, a rest stop area in Bahror. Before checking in at our hotel, we decided to visit the Amer fort which was on our way, about 15 km from Jaipur. ... (full story) (2 photos)
