Brisbane Buddhist Festival by Craig Seymour (1534) 2006-05-04 - 2006-05-06

For 3 days, Brisbane held a festival of enlightenment for Buddha's birthday. A lot of the Chinese community came out to celebrate too. There were workshops for the kids, calligraphy exhibitions, food, go to a meditation/yoga seminar, music and other entertainment. there was also traditional Buddhist things to do too. You could light a candle at the alter, burn incense at a shrine, ring the huge bell for good luck and participate in the bathing of the Buddha ceremony. There were always big crowds and my learnig of the Buddhist ways helped form my own beliefs. (4 photos)
