Akha Trail - Lao minorities by Ricardo Lopes (32905) 2007-10-17 - 2007-10-19

This trek was a 3 day cultural odyssay into the life and culture of Lao minorities. I learned about their life in the forest, in the fields and in the village. In gibbon country, this trip took me through Khmu settlements and along meandering streams before climbing the mountain slopes with vistas of the protected forests of the Nam Ha.
I met the Lahu people and spent 1 night in a Khmu village and other in an Akha village. (17 photos)

Curzon Trail - Kuaripass Trek by Ricardo Lopes (32905) 2006-10-13 - 2006-10-19

This is the first trek I did in the Indian Himalayas, in October of 2007. It is located in the Nandi Devi national Park, one of the highests in the world, at the state Uttaranchal in the Garhwal territory. It took 5 days trekink plus 1 for reaching the destination from Rishikesh and another one to return. It started in Auli, a ski resort at about 2500m and finished in Ghat at about 2000m of altitude. The highest point of the trail, is at the Kuari Pass, at an altitude of 4268m. (34 photos)
