The Final Munro by David Surname
(1892) 2006-05-27 - 2006-06-05
Island hopping, mountain walking and a final Munro.
A week long trip to Scotlands Western Highlands and Islands
This trip I went to the Isle of Arran, then on to Oban on the mainland, then finally I went over to the Isle of Mull to meet up with a lifelong friend who had arranged a 'Munro Party' on top of Ben More (3169ft). After 30 years, this was to be his final Scottish Munro - but definately not his last trip to Scotland.
This was my forth trip to Scotland this year. Again I was amazed by the photo opportunities. ... (full story) (14 photos)

Winters end: Cairngorms. by David Surname
(1892) 2006-05-13 - 2006-05-15
A long weekend mountain walking in the Cairngorms National Park.
The primary purpose of this weekend was to make sure my friend completed a series of 3 Munro's (Scottish mountains over 3000ft) prior to his Munro Summit party next month on the Isle of Mull, to celebrate his completion of all 284 Munro's.
This trip we had to summit:
Day 1 Devil's Point
Day 2 Driesh & Mayar
Day 3 Schiehallion
However, during the weekend we actually summitted 6. See individual images for details.
I booked SYHA (Scottish Youth Hostels Association) in Inverey and Pitlochry for accomodation - the first time I'd stayed in a ... (full story) (7 photos)

Winter Mountaineering in Scotland by David Surname
(1892) 2006-02-19 - 2006-02-24
My first trip to Scotland in winter for many years.
Winter mountaineering in Scotland is an elusive pursuit for a southerner - fickle weather being the main problem. I was extremely lucky to be blessed with some stunning weather conditions, and maximised my opportunity for 5 days - until fatigue overtook me and I returned south for a much needed rest. Hopefully I'll be back soon... (6 photos)

A Walk In The Park: Snowdonia by David Surname
(1892) 2005-11-18 - 2005-11-20
A beautiful walking weekend in Snowdonia, North Wales. The weather was sub-zero all weekend, and the sun shone - perfect conditions for mountain walking: Ice, frost, sun and stunning views.
These images are from two days mountain walking in the Snowdonia National Park. Always in view was the summit on Snowdon, the highest ground in Wales (1085m). I've climbed it many times, but this weekend was spend on surrounding hills, which gave excellent views of the Snowdon range.
I hope this short travelogue gives you a taste of the natural history in this national park. ... (full story) (8 photos)

Pembrokeshire Coast (SW Wales) by David Surname
(1892) 2005-08-27 - 2005-09-01
I spent a few days at the end of August 2004 on the Pembrokeshire coast. Typical for the UK, the weather for photography was very fickle. Hopefully this travelogue gives you a flavour for the area.
I'm relatively 'handicapped' with my photography at the moment because I'm exclusively using a 10-22mm wide angle lens.
During my walking excursions I saw much widelife, especially the native grey seals (with very young pups), but they were 'out of range' of my lens - next time :-) (7 photos)

A typical English holiday by the seaside:
Sun, sea and sand.
Children, boats, beaches...
I walked the coastline around Coombe Martin, North Devon (SW England) and took these photos for your review.
My Canon 10-22mm ultra wide angle lens was very useful in many of these landscapes. I hope you like my posts. (3 photos)

The Magic of the Isle of Skye by David Surname
(1892) 2005-05-28 - 2005-06-01
Isle of Skye, North West Scotland. A mixed collection of images.
My objective was some climbing on the Black Cuillin: I only managed one days climbing, but what a fantastic day it was... The Black Cuillin are a group of very rugged mountains around 1000metres in altitude; very lowly by alpine standards, but what they lack in stature they sure make up for in character.
The Black Cuillin provide alpine mountaineering in miniature - but don't be fooled into thinking that they are easy.
So, most of this travelogue is of other area's on Skye. We were based (10 photos)

A short travelogue from a single days easy hill walking in the Moelwyns, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, UK.
The first 4 hours of the walk was in thick mist, but as we ascended our final summit for the day (Moelwyn Bach) the cloud lifted.
I took all of these images over the following hour.
We descended towards Croesor. (3 photos)

Munro bagging in Scotland by David Surname
(1892) 2005-03-24 - 2005-03-29
In 1891 Sir Hugh Munro surveyed Scotland's mountains above 3000 feet (914.4 meters) and produced his "Tables" cataloging 236 peaks which he considered to be separate mountains. For this reason Scottish peaks above 3000 feet are called Munros. Modern resurveys list 284 'munros' ... (full story) (4 photos)
