Way back in 2005 I decided I wanted to go on the Trans-Siberian rail route. This was after watching the UK TV series Long Way Round with Charlie Boorman and Ewan McGregor.

Determined to undertake the trip I set about researching how to go about organising it, what documents I would need, how to get from place to place and more importantly where I could go in order to (a) have the trip of a lifetime and (b) get as many good photographic opportunities as I could. ...
