The worlds tallest monolithic statue measuring 18 m high created around 978 AD by Chamundaraya, a general and minister of the Ganga, King Rachamatta. Priests climb up to pour pots of coconut water, turmeric paste, vermilion powder over the statue's head.
It is in Karnataka, 1 Kms from Hassan.
