Sete cidades is probably the most photographed view in the island of Sao MIguel.. These two side by side lakes have given rise to legends and stories, and some say it is part of the lost continent of Atlantis. The lakes were created inside the crater of a dead volcano. In the surrounding areas there are hot springs and fumoroles.
