| Perhaps the most useful tip I have come across for Photoshop work is contrast masking. I do this on every photo, and I would guess it improves 95% of them. I found this method here: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/contrast_masking.shtml I can't recommend this highly enough. What I have done is to follow the instructions, using mid range values, and I set these as an action in photoshop. After I have run the action, I adjust the opacity and fill of the CM layers for the desired effect. If I am geting ready to have a large print made, I will go through the steps manually, using slightly different values, but for the most part his values are close enough for great results once you have adjusted the opacity and fill. Once again, if you have Photoshop, add this in as an action, it is invaluable. |
