Hi David. I'm not sure about which tribe the young man is from but I suspect he is a part of the Sioux. The Ft. Peck Reservation is in northeastern Montana and consist of about 3 million acres north of the Missouri River. The two predominant tribes located here are the Assiniboine, who's lands these were in old times, and the Sioux.

You might be interested to read the story of how the Sioux came to reside here. I goes sorat like this.... Sitting Bull and Gall (sp) after defeteing Gen. Custer at Little Bighorn were chased and ordered to go to the reservation established for them. The refused and crossed into Canada where they sought shelter from the resident tribes there. But life there was difficult and couldn't support all the addtional mouths. So Sitting Bull returned and sought assylem at Ft. Peck, then home to the Assiniboine Canoe Paddlers band. Later more Sioux joined and today the reservation, which was opened to purchase by non indians for time, about half and half Indian and non Indian. Of the Indians, about half are Assiniboine about half are Sioux with a spattering of several people from other tribes as well.

Here is a link that tells more about the story of this place and the people who live here. Ft. Peck
