| Dear Ally Thanks for your critique. To be frank, the cleanness of the Malaysian hawkers is questionable, especially when it comes to washing the dishes. In Thailand at the other hand, hawkers generally use detergent to wash the dishes, what is rarely seen in Malaysia. Prices are not really cheaper in Thailand when compared to small restaurants. It's similar. What is the key difference are the drinks, in Thailand the hawker and also the small restaurant provides a glass of water, mostly free of charge, but in Malaysia you have to order a drink what is at least 80 cent in Alor Star. Best regards Urs |
