| Hi Peter, Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging comments to my latest upload and especially your appreciation of the note. I'm glad you found the radar site valuable and useful, as I find it remarkable and see it as a glimpse of the future. I've followed aircraft all the way down to and on the runway in Hesinki, Finland, and imagine you're able to do that from Australia too. What future prospects this brings to mind, when all aircraft are equipped with these transmitters. At my old airport I've seen tests with remote towers; i.e a working position surrounded by large screens showing live images from cameras on top of a real control towers. And being able to switch between images from different (low stressed) towers, you're able to service several airports. And with all aircraft equipped with these radar transmitters - and not just transponders, responding to a radar "hit" - you'd be able to be located anywhere in the world and work in an airspace anywhere else in the world. To work as an approach controller for Copenhagen, Denmark, from a suite in Narrabeen Sands Hotel. Sadly the site is down at the moment, due to server problems, so I guess there's a lot to be done about security and fail-safe operations before the future is here... Thanks again for your visit. Best regards, Kaj |
