To Glint: Sneak Shotrlrad::2009-06-18 12:01
Hi Bev,

Thanks for checking out my gallery - I appreciate you taking the time to leave a critique, as well.

This wasn't exactly a sneak shot, I took it as the tour let out of Sun Studio - as I walked through the door there he was so I quickly grabbed a shot before he went away. I probably could have got one or two straight on - as omerozden pointed out in the first critique, but there were about 30 people in our tour and the shop there got full of tourists quickly, so it was almost impossible after that. I'm learning to read people a little better and to be a little bolder and more confident as I confront my human subjects, but I'm finding this is one of the hardest things to do. So often people automatically pose, too, which isn't really the effect I want, either.

I think the reason people - especially older people - who portray Elvis use his later persona is because it is easier to look that way. I know it is for me! If I was asked to get back to my 20's weight and pants size so I could fit in some leather tights, I probably would just look for another job! Of course, there are more older people who remember him, so they are more apt to imitate him. Although on one of those stupid reality shows on TV I saw a kid who did a really passable job of it - but he got voted out behind an old guy who did a wonderful job as a Frank Sinatra impersonator. Who knew?

It's a wacky, weird, wonderful world we live in, isn't it? I'm trying to keep myself open to it and will continue to try to share my part of it with everyone. I just want to be able to do a great job of it - like Jan, like George, Grazyna, and perhaps yourself (I'm just now looking into your gallery) - but I know I have a lot to learn. It's been a really fun six months, too, since I found this site. It does disturb me that so many have stopped posting and others have abandoned TE totally for reasons I have not quite figured out. I know there were a lot of folks really upset by the new site changes, I thought the old way was fine myself (and I resent being advertised to when I am a person who contributes), but I think this site still has potential and hope these folks come back.

Well, Bev, I'm at work and getting distracted from my distraction here, so I must return to that before I forget my train of thought and completely come off sounding like an idiot.

Please do stop by again and I would appreciate any critiques you have to offer!

Thank you,
Reed
