Note from friend after viewing image of Birds Nest. I was near the location while it was being built. It was built by poor Chinese, mostly from Hebei Province.I was in the temporary slum shelter area for the Hebei workers, 2006, or early 2007, I would have to check my daily planner, for an accurate date. They were forced to work 7 days a week, very long work-days, in brutal atmospheres. I was begged to accompany the worker to the workplace, so that the manager might fear that I was a witnessing foreign journalist,thus, improving the workers' conditions, even if for a short time, but, honestly, I feared that that would be a dangerous situation for me. (I apologize for the sentence structures,I am just conveying information).So, James, I know that you are a supposed humanitarian, and environmentalist, I just wish that you not be another naive and poorly informed North American.
