| You have posed a good question there. Like you, I often bracket my shots, and did so in this photograph. I mentioned in the note that there were some maintenance workers power washing the pier - well, apparently a couple water droplets found their way to my lens and caused two artifacts near the far end of the pier over the lights on the horizon. There was no cloning them out or healing them. This one exposure, which I like plenty myself, did not show those artifacts. I try to make that D300 shoot as low an ISO as possible when I have it on a tripod and the light is dim. It doesn't allow for as much noise as using a higher ISO, but of course sometimes it is unavoidable to kick it up bit. The sunrise light here was barely noticeable to the naked eye and was only apparent in the screen after the exposure was made. I bracketed up from this exposure with both aperture and shutter speed settings. I've started shooting RAW more often now, trying to be able to have that end result control and make my images work for me. This one was not shot in RAW, I was away from a computer with my better tools - I just had my work laptop and installed some temporary free graphics programs on it for use while I was in Florida. I've been into your gallery, John. It looks like you have something to teach me, too. I never dreamed photography could be so technical. You seem to have mastered that technical end, though, so I will study your technique and steal what I need from you to apply to my own style. I sure hope you don't mind!
