I guess the theory is that anyone can learn the technicals, but not everyone can understand the higher concepts and history...well at least that's what it seems like. It annoyed me at first, and sometimes still does. But I'm finding the more I study and the more indepth I get into the "history", the "politics" and the "philosophy" of art and photography. I'm beginning to understand more of the how's and why's of different movements and how that affected various artists. It's truely fascinating. Admittedly it's all wrapped in this pretentious higher education bubble...but if you deconstruct the annoyingly big words, the flowery ideas are a bit more understandable. I'm enjoying it, and my brain is bursting with new knowledge.
