Haven't been around TE for a while but trying to get back to it. It took about six months. Yes, we actually came down over Lake Nasser from Egypt and basically followed the nile to khartoum than did another loop. Darfur is off limits, as is the extremme south because of rebels. The border crossing into Ethiopia was probably the most dangerous place I have ever been. Honestly, the government controls very little outside of Khartoum (speaking in "western terms"), or at least that was my take on it. The people are absolutely fantastic though. Amazing people.
