| Hi Peter, thanks for your critique. Firstly, your beliefs are correct, that the colours here HAVE been manipulated. There was indeed a mild saturation added. I must apologise for the lack of this information, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Honestly forgot to add this time as i normally do. Shall edit my note ASAP!!! I really appreciate when someone takes the time to give me their opinion of my photos, especially the honestly critical, such as this. It is one of the reasons i enjoy the site as much as i do. Your observation immediately tells me that you knew the difference, and gives a credibility to your understanding of photography ,and the critique system. A lot of critiques i receive, whilst always welcome, tend to weigh on what the viewer likes about the image. I'm happy with this, but always enjoy more the critiques that suggest ways of how to better my photos. The way in which you suggest i better this photo (by not saturating!) is (in my opinion) a purists version of how this photo (and others of mine) should look. The reason i submit my photos like this, is mainly because i can. I believe i adhere to the guidelines laid out by Adam regarding post processing, and enjoy learning the techniques in my own workshops, picked up from the contributors, many of whom suggest saturating! Amongst all this confusion, the rules are there in black and white, and i'm abiding by them. So Peter, although you don't agree with what i do, i hope to receive more critiques from you. There are so many people with their own ideas on what they 'agree with', only through people taking the time as you have, will i learn more about this subject. Regards, Steve |
