I didn't quite get this image either but ....i don't know....but there is something that holds me in to ....I guess...trying to make sense of it or understand it.......that could be simply the emotional connection to all those diasporic South Americans and the way Miquel and Angel described their existence in the city of Madrid.....uuumm! maybe that's the subconcious hook in the image - there is something disconnected and 'lost' about them when maybe the expectation is of a more connected or collective ensemble image........technically you are right - elements are competing all over the place and even a bit of banding and a couple of strong horizontals doesn't rectify it.... but on the other hand there is a strong personal dimension to this .......i so often post for the emotional impact an image has on me in the moment that I choose it - idiosyncratic ...not particularly objective ........it's got me hooked somewhere......perhaps partly to do with the vision of what it will look like as a larger print....but ultimately when all is said and done i'm with you and Grazyna in that it doesn't quite hang together........ To Grazyna - interesting you should reference j's pic because earlier I consciously rejected another image that I was drawn to choose because of his image.........but on reflection the subconscious influence is still there...............
