I was so cautious in approaching this little creature and in making certain the camera was focused clearly on his head that I wasn't paying attention to camera settings. I don't recall the camera settings. I'd been shooting a bicyclist riding by a moment before and I might still have had the camera set for shooting action, which would increase the speed naturally. With the lizards, the only hope of catching them at all was to approach carefully. The two that darted away before moved much too fast to capture under any circumstance. This one was perfectly still. Since I was shooting at about four or five feet from an oblique angle, the limited depth of focus created the slight blur at the tail and back. I was most interesting in the head and texture of the top of the wood fence. Thanks for sharing your comments Sophie. I've been helping a friend with her new cat for the past many days and have had virtually no time to hang out on the board or critique photos. Hopefully, I'll have more time this evening to check in with friend's galleries. Be well.
