| Hi Stan: Thanks for your comments. You are correct, there are plenty of maples in the canyons, and they turn a brilliant red in the autumn, generally around the second and third weeks of September. After that the aspens turn a bright yellow, and though they last a little longer, they're nowhere near as pretty as the maples. Autumn in Utah is about as good as it gets in the western U.S., in my opinion, at least in the areas I've been in the autumn. I have a couple pictures of the fall colors, but if you want great shots of the maples, check out shots from Ryan Thayne, Robert Matthews, and Deeb Young, among others.
