Hello Clark - Thanks for the comments. I considered that format when I captured the image but since this was an offering to Pele I wanted some context in the image. Since Pele is the Volcano Goddess I felt the volcano was an important part of the image. I worked different backgrounds but I felt the steam vents added the most interest. Even though this was captured at f/11 I was surprised that the far rim was so OOF. I did play with the background a bit to blur it even more but that did not seem work. My only regret with this image was the lighting - it was dull, overcast, and trying to rain. I think I would have preferred cloudy with some sun breaks so that the colors would have been stronger in this bleak environment. Again thanks for your comments.
