| Thanks for your visit and critic. This picture and the other in this theme are a bit special. I was talling a walk near the place iabout Christmas one year ago when I noticed the shop sign "Ivoire" (ivory). I came to have a look and discovered the blue bottle in the shop window and the ivory carver. I kenw the use of the bottle. Thus I decided to come bakc a few days aferter with a new DSLR I just bought two weeks ago and asked him if I colud take a few pcitures and he let me inside his workshop t otake a few shots. The funny think is that a real photograher (A man from Brasil, pres card, huge profesional camera), saw me taking pictures and came inside too but since he could only speak English and was much less able or keen to discuss with the man, he was received less friendly... So I won't criticize the ash tray here, I was just happy that he accepted to get pictured and to take some time to show me his tolls... That's it ! But this is certainly the last shop of this kind in Paris. Perhaps there was this kind of shops in the USA in places like New Bedford or other harbors linked to the whaling industry, since the ivory came initially from sea mamals rathe than elephants. All the best, Emmanuel |
