Hey Kaj, Thank you very much for the warm welcome; it's really good to hear from you. The protest was indeed extremely long, and it filled both sides of an avenue with two lanes on each side and a divider in between, so it was like 24 km on any other street. The PRD supporters would also regularly convene in groups of tens of thousands at moments notice, which was quite impressive and which I was lucky enough to witness. I truly felt I was in the middle of history in the making (and even though the tent city eventually was ended by its organizers the story continues to play it and is far from over). I realize that this isn't the greatest composition, but I'm glad you found something in it to like. The whole protest was rather hard to shoot, with a lot of very brief moments that I wanted to catch but often couldn't. On top of that there were very messy backgrounds a lot of the time (got to get a grip on DOF so I can showcase the foreground and blur the back), and because the people were actually living in the street the whole thing was largely covered in tarpaulins which played hell with the light (very dark beneath the tarps and blown out where the sunlight showed through). Still, I wouldn't have missed it for the world and feel very privileged to have been there to take these photos. I agree with you about including the rest of the woman's bag, but this was an akward framing issue because I wanted to exclude the street that showed behind this photo montage and to do that I had to cut her off a little. Unfortunate but, hey, if I want perfect composition I could work in a studio. Thanks again for writing... it is really very nice to see you again. Happy holidays and I hope all is well with you.
