Actually the bird is an adult male anhinga "Anhinga anhinga leucogaster". They are very common in Florida in wetland and coastal areas. We also have double crested cormorants which are similar birds but have a hooked beak rather than the straight beak the anhinga has. The anhingas are also known as snake birds.
