| Hi Pat, For me it's also somewhat surprising that so few people was looking to this memorial - and Cabrillo Blvd, a few feets to the right, was full of strolling people, on a fine Sunday afternoon. In general it's rather strange that average people seem do not bother about the war. After all, this country is at war, isn't it? It seems that only the soldiers' families, some politicians and "a handful of devoted people" do bother about the war. I guess that the people are getting used to this state of things. It seems the mood is: the President wants a war? Ok, it's natural, it's his business. Somehow most people got the notion that a war (a US war somewhere else - not the 9/11 attack) it's a natural event. Perhaps children, teenagers and adults have got too much video and computer war games. |
