| Hello Kaj Thanks for these comments and all that you've made, also. You're right in noticing that this is not a real tree. Despite my obvious draw to fires, as some of my photos have shown, I am paranoid in trying to prevent fire. Perhaps because I have seen those raging infernos up close. So a fake tree is better for preventing fire. And it also lasts the whole month we have it up, something a real tree probably would not do, at least not without getting so dry it might catch fire. So it comes back to a fake tree. And yes, things are always added. And each has their own story. I still remember the stories of these two. And many others. And my parents remember the stories of others from before my time. On our tree we have an angel, recently added to replace what seemed to be an age old one that somehow disappeared between January and December. I like your analogy to a H.C. Andersen tale with a sad ending. Maybe I'll have to try to come up with a tragic story for these two characters. I also wanted to respond to another question in another critique but I can't find it. You asked what the TCON17x was. That is the telephoto adapter lens from Olympus with a 1.7x "zoom" factor. For my digital camera it gives the equivalent of a 190mm lens. On my IS-3, which it also fits, it gives the equavalent of 300mm. And it's amazingly sharp. I used it to photograph from the top of the hospital last week and I was able to make out amazing detail on the oil refinery 5 miles away. And I even was able to make out the images, though not the writing, of billboards near the refinery. Maybe with a tripod I could have gotten even a bit more detail. I've found it very useful. Thanks again for all the comments. They are all highly appreciated. Paul |
