| I'd been looking at photos taken in New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina and was amazed at the impact of high waters. Walking through downtown San Anselmo yesterday I kept thinking about those photos. It looks exactly the same, except for the effects of wind. Although the winds were pretty high during this storm, ripping off awnings in front of some stores, the read damage was caused by the rushing water. It tore up the street surface in some areas. The recovery will take a long while I'm certain. I bought the 1D as an experiment to see if I like working with such a big, heavy camera. It weighs about 1.585 kilograms with the battery but without the lens. It is alot of camera to carry around for a long while, though the hand strap helps quite a bit. I stumbled on an incredibly good deal on a remarkably well cared for camera. I don't doubt I could use it for a year and still get my investment back. It isn't as successful in low light situations but then I'll keep the 20D to handle those occasions. But it is so fast in focusing and produces such sharp images that I imagine I'll get a great deal of use out of the 1D. So far I love it! I look forward to what you learn about printers. I'm using an older model Epson at home which has given me great service. At the moment, however, it is acting up, so I may need to find a replacement as well. I'd thought about getting the Canon i9900 so I could do large format printing, but I'm not sure this is the direction I want to be going. You've done such outstanding research for the gear you've purchased, I don't doubt you'll make a good decision here as well. Let me know what you choose. |
