| Actually, the decay in most of the superbly constructed buidlings in Vedado is mainly superficial, most of teh buildings date from the 30s and 40s. The place I stayed looked in a similar state outside, but inside was hugh immaculately maintained, adn original, art deco apartment. The sort of place that wold cost $1 000 000 in New York, but here there's no property market. In the old parts of town, Centro and Old Havana, there's a lot of serious dilapidation, though UNESCO funds have saved quite a lot. |
