| Hi Greg, Using a mono filter on the lens does aid visualization of the tonal range of the shot and of course in B&W thats the key and also by removing the colour you can eliminate those times when a shot looks good in colour but plain in B&W. My main reason though is that it allows the use of all three channels and I have found that this eliminates a lot of noise from the image, Looking closely at each channel clearly shows that noise can be high in the red channel in 1 shot and high in the green the next, using all three allows me to have a red filter without the unwanted noise. This is not so evident at screen resolution but as a 20x16 contact print it can be seen. Yours Richard |
