1. I cropped the top of the photo to try to show the terraces as continuous.
2. I increased colour and contrast by a small amount.
3. Sharpened as much as I could. I really wanted to get some detail in the rice - difficult!
4. Re-added a thin frame.
I'm not sure if this really works - maybe it's lost some depth and perspective. What do you think?

Next, I cropped the photo to reduce the dark foliage in the bottomright corner, and also to de-centralise the boat.
Finally I increased contrast, increased saturation and sharpened a bit.

I increased contrast and colour and sharpened in IrfanView.

In IrfanView:-
1. Cropped the top of the photo.
2. Boosted colour saturation by 170%, reduced red channel by 10%
3. Increased contrast by 10%
4. Increased gamma by 5%
5. Sharpened.

3. Increased contrast to darken the sky and emphasize the reflections.
