Just played about with it - mainly a little darker with levels, but I blur softened it a bit too as I think it was also a tad over sharpened.
Beware of using USM to excess.

Hello Terry.
Here is the workshop. This is not to improve your work in any way, is just that I really like B&W pictures and when we're talking about trains I think the B&W fits like a silk glove!

So, I started increasing contrast and using the photolab plugin converted the image to sepia with the colors almost desaturated and a good exposure. Then a aplied a sharp mask to give some importance to the small rebits in the train. Adjusted the shadows and highlights, and thats it!
In the end I made a diferend frame that I think is more apropriated to the B&W and we're done.

Selected the sky using the magic want and increased contrast and darkenned slightly.
Inverted selection and used curves to increase contrast.
Saturated grass slightly.
Used blur too on horizon to reduce artefacts in image.

I tried to brighten the beautiful bride.

1. applied shadow/highlight 16% in PS CS2.
2. adjusted levels to brighten the beautiful bride.
3. removed a cloth on the floor at left.
4. applied smart sharpen (32%, 0.2, lens) on her face in L channel of Lab color mode.
5. added the white frame to show her beautiful more.
6. smoothed her wedding dress in NeatImage (Noise Reduction Amounts H:50% M:25% L:10%).

The picture is too light. Saturation won't help because the picture will be too contrast.
That's why I copied the layer, and then multiplied them.
Then, I cropped the picture. Cactus adds colorite to the picture, but the rest of greenery is superfluous and distracts attention. Cut it away :)
Also, an original frame does not suit the photo at all! I am still thinking what colors to use, but at least updated the photo with a standard frame.
