Pat, I used the magic wand tool on her hair making sure that I didn't touch her skin and moved the shadow bar all of the way to the right and did some level and curves adjustment. I selectively cloned only small portions of her hair in the remaining shadow areas.

A panoramic has a different emotional impact to it. I like both versions of your beautiful image.
The different perspectives have a different feel to them IMO.

The human face is the toughest type of photo of all to sharpen, especially for a tiny web photo. It is tougher than all other types of photographa combined. I usually err on the side of a softer rendition and I am probably too cautious with sharpening. I used a small amount of "Smart Sharpen" on the subject's face only.

Neat Image did most of the work for noise reduction in it's auto profile mode. I did some basic enhancements with Photoshop's "Highlights/Shadows" and curves. 90% of the improvements for this photo of yours was done in Neat Image".

I used Neat Image and reduced the noise and did some "Smart Sharpen" in Photoshop CS2.

I also included a closeup of my Nikon Coolpix P5000 digicam, and the Televue 28mm eyepiece adaptor coupled with the Nikon UR-E20 adaptor and my Televue 5mm Nagler eyepiece. This setup is lightweight and simple to use and much easier than trying to couple a much larger and heavier DSLR. The digicams have another advantage; they have leaf shutters and are not prone to "mirror slap" like SLRs are.

This is my complete setup, excluding my telescope mount. Included are my small telescope, CoolPix P5000 digicam, the Nikon UR-E20 (28mm threads) adaptor, the Televue 28mm eyepiece adaptor, 5mm Televue Nagler eyepiece and the 90 degree mirror diagonal (optional).

I metered the ambient light and used about -1/3 fill flash to match Jorge's portrait with the background. I used a tripod and he had to stay very still for a fairly long shutter speed.

Hi Maria,
I basically increased the contrast by using curves and increased the color saturation a bit and sharpend her dress, reduced the noise on her face and sharpend her face by a small amount.
