Intro: Hello everyone .. thanks for dropping in. I'm Samrat Ray Chaudhuri from Calcutta, India.

To begin with I'm not much of a photographer as much as I am a nature lover and a traveller. I'm very new to this hobby of photography and its fast developing into a passion.

I'm an avid traveller & love to trek the himalayan mountains ... more so the eastern himalayas.

Mount Kangchendzongha (8586 mts), the 3rd highest peak of the world is my favourite peak and I'd do anything to catch a glimpse of the majestic peak.

I love Indian classical music and love and respect wildlife .. mammalians, specially the big cats are my special love.

Since I'm new in the field of photography I have this immense craving of learning this art & I'd love to improve myself. I would really welcome and appreciate honest criticism from all of you.

At the moment I am using a Canon EOS Rebel XTi camera and a 18-200/1:3.5-6.3 Sigma Zoom lens.

At times I also love using my father's old, outdated Russian manual SLR Zenit E.

In this age of ardent and high tech digitalisation cameras have made tremendous advancements and are sure to keep on doing so. But I feel that the anticipation, excitement, expectation and joy of shooting with a manual SLR camera can never be done away with.
