| Intro: | Camels and goats, sand and ice, curry, rice, chai, trains, sunrise, sunset, mountains and deserts, rock and wind, monkeys, life. Moments, frozen in time, written with light. Enough pretentiousness! I was lucky enough to spend the best part of 2002 travelling with the nomadic Gaddi shepherds of the Indian mountain state of Himachal Pradesh. Lots of the photos posted here come from that year but there are also plenty from elsewhere, both in India and outside. I hope you enjoy them all and that the Gaddi migration photos communicate something of the reality of a lifestyle that it was fascinating to share, if only for a brief time. |
