I wanted to be able to see more details at the too dark foreground but in keeping the beautiful sky and sun set (I only "push" a little bit the saturation for them). I use the level command (middle slider move from 1 to 2) to light and create a mask to protect the sky from any change. Add a little bit contrast and saturation.

The modern and intrusive lamp stand has been cloned out. Just for curiosity. Hope you don’t mind. I think it look more authentic without it.

I cropped the image to show the 3 people, selected the background, applied gaussian blur, then added saturation 10%, contrast 5%, reduced brightness 10% and sharpened with unsharp mask 100%.

Played with levels, boosted saturation and lighting, did a little crop, usm and finally noiseware.

I converted the photo to black and white. Increased the contrasts just a little and decreases the brightness hoping to add a little more of a sombre mood.
