Intro: I started in 1984 with a Canon AE-1 Program and no idea what I was doing; I just knew I wanted to do it. After a few months, I was severely low on cash and sold the AE-1. Man, wish I still had that camera.

Picked it up again in 1989 and learned my way around the darkroom. In 1992 I got a stringer job as a photojournalist for a newspaper and also did a lot of freelance work for regional publications.

I eventually grew tired of taking photo assignments and freelance jobs, and just needed the freedom to shoot for myself. I also grew weary of the business side of freelance photography - submissions, contracts and the like, so I just quit it all together.

Now I just shoot purely for the joy and satisfaction I get from simply creating an image and learning more about the world around me.

(A rather insipid reason, but true nonetheless.)
