- Intro
- Hello Trekers
Born in Rotterdam, Holland and migrated to Australia in 1954 when I was 2 years old.
I first became interested in photography in my late teens (about 1970) when I bought my first camera, an Asahi Pentax KX SLR with 1:1.8/55 lens and a 200mm Telephoto lens. Took some great photo's with this camera, I still have this today and the lens fits my new digital - great for low light shots. But as like many - work, marriage and four children (now 21 -32 years old) my interest and commitment waned as priorities changed.
Then when film cameras made way for the digital world, I bought one of the first Canon Powershot A10 ($700) with 1.2 megapixels - wow. Great little camera, took all my round Australia (2007) shots with that some of which I will post on TrekEarth.
I have now managed to get my hands on a Pentax K200D digital SLR with an extra Macrozoom lens. Takes fantastic shots and has many good features but will take some time to master.
I love vibrant and contrasty shots of particularly landscapes and old buildings, there's just something about them I find fascinating, it's history and mystique that it keeps so secret.
I look forward to sharing my images, ideas and critiques with you all. Hopefully I can learn more about the world, it's boundless beauty and diversity of it's people through you and maybe you from me.
That's what it's all about.
Cheers
